Scunthorpe United are preparing a double loan swoop according to HITC Sport.

They are reporting that the Iron have won the race to sign Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney and Rangers midfielder Matt Crooks.

Toney has recently returned to Newcastle after a six-month loan spell at Shrewsbury, where he scored seven goals in 26 appearances.

Crooks has struggled to make an impact at Rangers since joining the club from Accrington, with injuries restricting him to just three appearances for the club.

The 6ft 4in midfielder scored eight goals in 53 games for Accrington having joined from Huddersfield Town in 2015.
