Grimsby Town enquire about Wootton

A number of League Two clubs are interested in signing Iron striker Kyle Wootton.

Iron-Bru.co.uk understands that Grimsby Town are one of the clubs that have made tentative enquiries about Wootton, who is on a rolling week to week contract at Glanford Park.

Wootton, who spent time on loan at Cheltenham last campaign, has been offered a new deal by Scunthorpe and will command a fee should he leave this summer.

Iron chairman Peter Swann hinted on BBC Radio Humberside that the club would let the 20 year old leave if the deal was right for all parties.

Swann also suggested that he expected a six figure fee should a tribunal be needed to decide compensation for the player, which may be the reason any potential suitors are reluctant to offer a contract.

He scored two goals in 16 appearances for the Robins last term.
