Scunthorpe United manager Graham Alexander and goalkeeper Matt Gilks have been nominated for the manager of the month and player of the month awards, respectively.

Alexander comes up against Portsmouth’s Kenny Jackett, Tony Mowbray (Blackburn) and Walsall’s Jon Whitney for the manager of the month accolade.

Meanwhile the other player of the month nominations are Charlie Mulgrew (Blackburn), Max Power (Wigan) and Wes Thomas (Oxford).

“Any individual accolade for a player or myself always goes down to the quality of the group and the results of the team,” Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“Without each other and the quality of the group, no-one wins anything.

“I won’t win promotion, Matt Gilks won’t win promotion, without everybody.

“We don’t win these individual rewards without the strength of the group and that’s all I’m bothered about.

“It is nice for the club and the individual but we must realise where the results come from and that is from the efforts of everyone at the club.

The winners of both awards will be announced this Friday (December 8th).
