Caretaker duo to meet chairman today

Caretaker managers Nick Daws and Andy Dawson will meet with Iron chairman Peter Swann today to discuss the managerial situation at Scunthorpe United.

The duo have taken 12 points from a possible 15 since taking over when Mark Robins was sacked five weeks ago, but oversaw a 2-1 reverse at Fleetwood on Saturday.

Dawson told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “We saw the chairman a week ago last Friday and said we’d get last week out of the way. It’s been a really positive week with the Southend game and going to Millwall.

“The second half of Saturday was the same, but unfortunately we can’t go into that meeting on the back of three wins, or even two wins and a draw.

“I think we all saw the lads though were giving everything they’ve got for us and each other and the football club. That’s a massive positive because, as we’ve always said, with the squad we’ve got, you’ve always got half a chance of winning games.

“We’ve enjoyed our spell in charge. I didn’t enjoy the first half at Fleetwood as much, but that’s football. At any level you don’t go and win every game.”

Who’s next? Fleetwood – hopefully not a banana skin
