Iron boss Graham Alexander has refused to rule out a January move for Cardiff City striker Adam Le Fondre, but would not be drawn into discussing individual transfer targets out of respect for their current clubs.
Le Fondre, who is currently on loan at Championship side Wigan Athletic has been linked with a move to Glanford Park in recent days, with Cardiff seemingly keen for him to seal a permanent deal away from the club.
“I have read that but it is disrespectful for me to talk about other club’s players,” Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
“I wouldn’t be happy if another manager was talking about one of my players without speaking to us first.
“Even then there has to be a three-way conversation between the two clubs and the player.
“There is a way of behaving in football and I think people should stick to that. I will and so will the club.
“We won’t speak about players that are under contract at another club under something is finalised.
“There is a lot of speculation as there always is at this stage of the season with every club.
“These stories and reports will go all over the place and sometimes it is true and sometimes it is not and sometimes it is agents trying to gather up business.
“There is too much speculation to comment on each individual one.”
Le Fondre has made 11 appearances for the Latics since joining on loan in the summer, with the majority coming from the substitutes bench.
