Iron boss Graham Alexander felt his side deserved the three points as they emerged 2-1 victors at Swindon Town.
The victory saw the Iron condemn their second opponents in a week to relegation, following the 3-1 win over Chesterfield on Easter Monday.
Despite being comfortable for the majority of the game, a late Rohan Ince goal set up a nervy last few moments in Wiltshire, but Scunthorpe held on.
“We came here for the three points, got them and deserved them,” Alexander told the media following the victory.
“I would have liked to have seen out the last five to 10 minutes more comfortably, if we had taken some of the opportunities we created especially on the counter attack.
“It was a strange game with Swindon in their position and the atmosphere and I think that affected our game.
“But the players came here, did a professional job and got the three points.
“We were delighted to get three points to get to 79, win four games on the bounce and finish the regular season on a high and we will have certainly done that if we win next week.
“We have done really well in recent weeks. The players have shown fantastic commitment and won games when it mattered”
