Alexander hopes to build on Fleetwood win against Millers

Scunthorpe boss Graham Alexander has challenged his players to build on last Saturday’s 3-2 win over Fleetwood with victory over in form Rotherham United this weekend.

Paul Warne’s men arrive just one place and five points behind the Iron ahead of the local derby, with Alexander keen to stress it will be a tough challenge against League One’s most in-form side.

“All our focus is on Rotherham on Saturday. We know it will be a difficult game between two very good teams, who have won a lot of points this season”, Alexander told the club’s official site.

“We both play with a similar mentality of being on the front foot and wanting to get around the other teams.

The visitors will be backed by over 2,000 fans on British Steel Day at Glanford Park and with a bumper home crowd also expected, Alexander is hoping for a good atmosphere.

“We expect a tough game but have to take confidence from the way we played last week. It should be a good crowd and atmosphere.

“Rotherham are a big club themselves with a lot of backing and we will respond how we always do to that. We’re looking forward to competing at the level we can – the performance is important and we know the challenge ahead.”
