Alexander hails Ness impact

Graham Alexander has praised midfielder Jamie Ness following his man of the match performance in the 3-1 home win over Chesterfield on Easter Monday.

Ness has struggled to produce back to back performances since joining from Stoke in 2015 and has missed large parts of the campaign, but his commitment to return to full fitness has been rewarded with seven starts in the last eight games by the Iron boss.

“I am delighted for Nessy and we know of his quality,” Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“He has worked extremely hard all season, never lost belief and he is a valuable member of the squad.

“He has had his injury problems which is why I took him off on Monday because it certainly wasn’t due to his performance.

“We are trying to be cautious with him so when we go the third goal, it was important we looked after him.

“He does all the right things and made a great sacrifice in the summer to move closer to the club to give him the best chance of keeping fit.

“Hopefully he will play a major part for us at the most important stage of the season.”
